• One Google account for Blogger
• One Gmail account for Google Pages

This was because I didn’t know about Google Pages when I migrated my Blogger account to Google, and also because I wasn’t sure how to sign up for Gmail to use Google Pages and merge the two accounts together.
Now Google now allow non Gmail users to get Gmail. I got Gmail and migrated my entire website onto the new Google Pages hosting. I then deleted my old Gmail account for Google Pages!
However, I might have missed a page when I was migrating, but I checked and everything seems fine.

(With some shirts in the corner.) This is a photograph taken at a clothes shop. I though it would be a good photo, so I took it with my phone camera.

• Consistency: When I browse ALL my friends’ sites, every page seems like another website. However, my site and my mini sites have a consistent design.
• Navigation: Most of my friends’ sites just can’t compare on this point. Whereas I have a navigation list on every page, my friends have a poor page list on the homepage (which isn’t interactive or detailed) and on every other page, they have a link saying “Home”. No navigation bar.
• Speed: If your site’s homepage loads faster than 4 seconds, that’s pretty good. My friends’ sites achieve a poor 12+ seconds (the worst being 17). That’s enough to make me close the window.
• Updating: My site gets updated with 1+ entry every week on average. My friends’ sites? Only once about every 4 weeks.

To turn on syntax highlighting you just have to save with the Python extension and there you are! There’s no need to type any command. It is as simple as that! If you are going to use Python, I would seriously recommend Vim.

Why?
Well, you can use them as folder or file icons. (You may need to change the format slightly.) And you can make some and sell them!

How To
In this section we’re going to make a folder with a document hanging out. The same concept can be taken to other icons though.

1. Change the resolution to 32 x 32 and zoom in to 1000% (10x zoom)
2. Draw a rectangle filling the bottom 3/4 of the icon. I would make it yellow, but you can choose whatever color you want. Make sure there is no stroke.
3. Draw a rectangle covering 1/2 vertically of the space not covered yet. Make it the same color as the other rectangle. Also, make sure there is no stroke.
4. Union the two rectangles together.
5. Add a stroke.
6. Resize the folder to fit exactly in the icon.
7. Change the stroke so it is a linear gradient.
8. Move the gradient so it is a top to bottom gradient.
9. Edit the gradient so it has a near-dark to medium gradient.
10. Change the fill to the original to light radial gradient.
11. (Optional) Add something hanging out.

And voila! A folder icon! Now you can sell it if you want! (Please note that you may want develop your own style of making icons.)

I decided to try making some fractal art. This is my result.

But why? Well, they already share the IM experience (well, half of it). Why do they need any more? This is just greedy. Let’s look at Google. They have, according to Wikipedia, $17 billion. Microsoft have $51 billion, but their operating income is $19 billion. That’s a massive difference when Yahoo! is acquired. Now see what I mean?

I think Microsoft need to think about their business practices, especially ones that can get them in court.

Instructions:

1. Download the file.
2. Unzip. Linux users will be about it, it’s TAR+BZIP2*! Everyone else will just have to find a compatible decompresser.
3. Look in the new folder and find your screen resolution!

*Linux has TAR+BZIP2 support built in. I used it because it produced a smaller file than RAR.

It’s only 30 seconds long, but it has a message.

  The old Flickr badge had square previews. Not good. So I’ve replaced them with Blogger’s slide show widget.

  You must visit via ChelseaFan528.tk to see this. I talked to some of the website’s main viewers (my friends) and they said they didn’t mind ads if there were better features that just happened to have ads. And no popups. So here we are. Go talk.
• Poll has its own page
  You must visit via ChelseaFan528.tk to see this. Also part of the forum helping, comes the poll now on its own page.
• Backup now available
  There is now a backup of my site, in case it is ever down. It is at chelseafan528.wordpress.com. However, it won’t be that up to date.

Why would I want to do that?
Well, maybe you want to make it look like a video capture. Or you’re designing a website and it will look good with a interlaced background.

Darker Interlace Lines
That’s easy. Just follow the steps and you’ll be fine.

1. Flatten your image and duplicate your Background layer.
2. Click to <Image> Filters > Distorts > Erase Every Other Row. (GIMP 2.4 menus)
   Settings:
   Rows/cols: Rows
   Even/odd: Even
   Erase/fill: Erase
3. Change your new layer’s layer mode to Multiply.
4. You’re done! Click here to see my result.

That might be what you want most of the time, but here’s a method to produce different lines.

Lighter Interlace Lines
To do that, it’s just as easy. Follow the instructions and enjoy.

1. Create a new layer and fill it with white.
2. Click to <Image> Filters > Distorts > Erase Every Other Row. (GIMP 2.4 menus)
   Settings:
   Rows/cols: Rows
   Even/odd: Even
   Erase/fill: Erase
3. Change the opacity of your new layer to about 25%.
4. You’re done! Click here to see my result.

That’s all, and it’s pretty easy!

Note: Snap Shots still displays shots from the blue version of the site.

• Allow commercial uses (I realised I would be better without the NonCommercial clause.)
• Be compatible with more art sources (Tango and the Open Clipart Library imagery can now be used on my site legally)
• Still allow changes to be used back in my site.

Also, it allows parts of my site to be used on sites with ads.

ENJOY!

• Record yourself clicking with your mouth. Do it three times on different tracks. It might sound interesting, it might sound rubbish.
• Generate some white noise and use the Envelope tool to make the volume gradually increase. It will sound interesting.
• You can change the pitch of your voice with the Change Pitch filter. (Filters > Change Pitch)

Halloween

Well, maybe I should have saved a Megapost for Hallow’een and called it the Hallow’een Megapost, but being early often doesn’t matter. (What? It really doesn’t matter…) To carve your pumpkin this year, here are some ideas:

• A bat
• Dracula’s vampire teeth (perhaps accompanied by the word “BLOOD!”)
• A bat accompanied by some scary looking windows.

They’re just a few ideas. You’d be better off coming up with your own.

Walnuts
Yeah, I know, funny title. But walnuts are great! (Yeah, again.) And if I’d done this Megapost at Halloween, I wouldn’t write about them.

The image is English Walnuts Edit 1.jpg uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons and created by AndonicO, edited by Digon3. It is dual licensed under the GFDL and CC-BY 2.5 licenses. I selected the CC-BY 2.5 License. I also scaled it down and compressed it smaller.
I particularly prefer them when they are large and they are good for you. (This post has a lot of links, doesn’t it?)

Conclusion

• An ink cartridge.
• A fountain pen with no cartridge in it.
• A sharp pencil

Instructions:

1. Use the pencil to open the ink cartridge. To do this, simply push the pencil in the opening until ink appears on your pencil, then remove it.
2. Jab at the opening of the cartridge 20 times.
3. Put the tip of the nib of your fountain pen in the opening, dip it in for a while, and try writing. It should work.

• Navigation to top level pages only visible on the homepage.
  This sucks. Consider that 56k user. Does he want to click through 2 pages just to see one? No. His Internet connection is so slow he might even go off your site. In fact, a drop down box is MUCH better than a box with the words ‘Back to Home’ accompanied with a image any day.
• Removing this-website-is-missing-this comments.
  If you do that, you’re never going to improve your site. Listen to what people are saying. If they complain about something, make it better. If they don’t, then you’ve done a good job.
• Badly done illustrations.
  You’re an idiot if you have this error. When making websites, NEVER USE MICROSOFT PAINT! Get something good like Adobe Photoshop. I mean, click on the thumbnail below:
  
  Is that done on Paint? NO!

I personally think this is a great improvement.
